Coach Marcus Turner has enjoyed his stint at Keith High School.

Turner is The 疯客直播 Times-Journal boys basketball player of the year.

鈥淭he award is greatly appreciated,鈥� Turner said.聽

Turner spent several years as an assistant coach at Dallas County High School under Cliff Nix. Turner said he learned a lot of basketball skills under Nix.

鈥淐oach Nix taught me a lot being on the sideline with him because he showed me how to run a structured program and afforded me to have a little more control than most assistants usually have,鈥� Turner said. 鈥淚 am forever grateful to Coach Nix.鈥�

Nix, an assistant coach on the Hornets鈥� state title squad in 2014, said Turner鈥檚 ascension up the coaching ranks is no surprise to him. 鈥淚鈥檓 not surprised at all,鈥� Turner said. 鈥淗e played the game in high school and has a family background of players., referees. Coaching is in his genes. We made a great coaching combo,聽 He has a great supporting cast that I consider family. We had some good times together and created some lifetime memories. To me, he鈥檚 not just a good coach, he鈥檚 a great coach along with being a true friend.鈥�
